The Week Of Asking Oprah's Friends: Letter to Jean Chatzky and FREE $15 IHOP Guest Invitation Certificate!

Whoopee!!!

After all my frustrations with IHOP over their sloppy reading skills, I got a very special surprise in the mail today:

1) A wonderfully unexpected $15 "Guest Invitation Certificate" from them.
2) Proof that I shouldn't take their sloppy reading personally, as they also happen to be sloppy writers. "How sloppy?," you ask. So sloppy that they even misspell the name of their own company.

Their exact letter, word-for-word (including missing punctuation and incorrect spelling of the word "and"):

Dear Ms. ______,

I would like to personally thank you for the e-mail you sent to our Corporate Offices praising our restaurant. It is very much appreciated by us here at Brooklyn Hop!

We would like to offer you an your boyfriend an invitation back to our restaurant to enjoy another meal. Please present this letter and invitation certificate to the manager on duty on your next visit

It is our hope you allow us another opportunity to earn your patronage.

Sincerely,
Deandria Walker
Human Resources Manager

Thank you so much Deandria! Thank you so much IHOP! And on behalf of both me and my boyfriend, thank you for including him in your very sweet letter. We appreciate it!

Jean Chatzky, Oprah's on-air money expert, would be pleased to know that I received such personal service from you. Hopefully, if all goes well with my letter-writing campaign to Oprah's friends, I will eventually be able to tell her in person.

Re: IHOP

Kristen,
Do you think that Deandria Walker in HR fired Ms. Pendleton for her misreading of your first letter? It's just kind of interesting that Ms. Pendleton is no longer in the picture. Or maybe IHOP - like so many American companies in these trying times - had to make some staff cuts. All the more generous of them to give you a $15 voucher.
