The Week Of Asking Airlines: Letter to Northwest Airlines

As a proud Minnesotan, I believe that no series of letters written to the airline industry would be complete without one to Northwest Airlines.

Among the largest, most visible companies in both the North Star state and the world, NWA is a never-ending source of conversational fodder for Minnesotans and former Minnesotans -- whether it's "how was your day at work?" or "I can't believe we're subsidizing this stupid, sinking company with our tax dollars yet again."

I, myself, have a very special place in my heart for NWA (aside from the Minnesota connection). As was the case with a lot of Korean adoptees of my generation, Northwest Orient Airlines (as they were called back before we cared about political correctness) served as the proverbial stork that carried me from Asia to the Americas when I was but a wee tike. Without NWA, I might still be sitting in Hononlulu International Airport waiting for my connecting flight

My logic might not be entirely sound, but I think this is as good a reason as any to ask for a free plane ticket.
